The newly revised Urban Health and HIV response: the AMICAALL Uganda Programme strategic plan 2016/17 -2020/21 which focuses on strengthening leadership and governance for improved and sustainable health and HIV&AIDS outcomes in urban areas has been launched. The five year strategy aims to eliminate HIV and AIDS in urban areas by addressing related health challenges of reproductive health and rights, environment, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), Non Communicable Disease (NCDs). Launching the strategic plan the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Uganda (who was represented by the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Tom Butiime) urged the urban leaders to be actively involved in the HIV fight since the urban areas are critical in combating the epidemic. This was during the 5th Urban Leaders’ Health and HIV/AIDS Forum held on November 10th 2016 at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
